Since 1998, the EUROPRIX competition has selected and promoted the best products and application in online and offline digital media. It has done so by involving multimedia and e-content creating industries in 33 countries. Each year, between 450 and 600 products are registered and entered in the contest, representing a participation of over 1800 companies in the past 5 years. The jury process is a database supported expert assessment where panels of 5 to 7 members evaluate the products according to five technical and one strategic criteria. Products are entered in seven categories covering the different contexts of use of multimedia.
The overriding aspect of evaluation is with the value added for users in these contexts through multimedia and the enabling appliances and technologies. 45 jurors spend intensive 5 days of evaluation with the products and thus gain a rare, in-depth understanding of the products in the European markets.
The European Academy of Digital Media (EADiM) is a network of merit, only nominees and winners of EUROPRIX can become members, jurors can become fellows of the Academy. EADiM has members and partners in 28 countries in the EU and the NAS and has developed around the evaluation of best practice of e-content creation through the EUROPRIX award jury process.
ACTeN exploits this know-how pool and uses this network of experts by inviting EADiM members to contribute reports to the Content Market Monitor and give presentations at the Scouting Workshops and Summer Schools. With this, ACTeNassists in the anticipation of the needs of the business community and the multimedia industry for innovation in tools, enabling technical environments and new product features.
